the great maternity clothing hunt :: jeans

Beginning the great quest. #pregnancy #twins

Jeans, I need new jeans. Badly! My current pair lasted me through my first pregnancy and my friend through hers and now no longer can stay up for longer than a day. It’s sad really, they had just reached that super comfy point.

I was most heavily pregnant in the winter with Master Quinton, but with these twiners I’ll be at my largest in the summer heat. Good thing I have friends with a pool! *wink wink* But, this means that my current collection of maternity wear is already a bit too warm for the sunny weather we’ve been enjoying.

And so the great maternity clothing hunt begins! (As Barney would say Challenge Accepted!)
And we are, naturally, starting with jeans.

Well, they fit my bum area really well, but they're waaay too baggy everywhere else.

The H&M in Walnut Creek has a maternity ‘section’ meaning they have one table, two hangbars and a few mannequins. My timing must be very spotty with them. The first time I went they had a great selection. The second, meh. But this last time they looked pretty picked over. There were only two sets of jeans to be found and I never know what sizes to grab at the H&M so I simply grabbed them all.

They fit rather well around my bum and thighs, but they were so baggy around my waist there was no way they were coming home with me. Plus the style was just kinda – meh.

Liking the fun bum stitching, but the wrong length for me.

Luckily the Destination Maternity store was just down the street, so off I went with my two patient men in tow. If they weren’t so blasted expensive I would just love to shop at A Pea In A Pod, but $120 for a pair of shorts is what the Hubs like to call crazy. So I headed upstairs to the Motherhood section instead and was pleasantly surprised by the styles that awaited me. Until I realized that every single pair of pants was boot cut. Do they have something against preggers women wearing skinny jeans?

Here’s the truth – I’m not a size two – shocking I know. I’m usually somewhere between a 4-6 and sometimes an 8, depending on the store, style, cut, fabric… you know how it goes. But when it’s just little old me in my little old body I have the hardest time wearing skinny jeans. (Except when I was rocking my nursing – and burning 5 million calories a day – true size 2 body) But put a preggers belly on me and I have no issues rocking the skinny jeans.

If I could find them that is!

The jeans quest did end with one pair of jeans successfully acquired. They gained the thumbs up from the Hubs who said they made my bum look sparkly. And the Q dude gave a very cute ooooh which certainly helped seal the deal.
