Sometimes a girls just gotta hop on a plane and fly across the country to watch her friend get married to the man of her dreams. And oh, what a dream night it was. But before we get to the blessed event we have to get the wonderful city of CHICAGO.
I admit, I’ve only ever used Chicago as a stopping point between here and there. I’ve used and abused it’s fun people mover pathways to rush off to my next flight and never fully stopped to enjoy just how magnificent the city outside of those people moving hallways were. But not this time. This time I walked down those neon hallways and just kept walking all the way to the train and let that glorious train take me all the way to the Lakeview area. Where I found my 4 story walk-up apartment all ready and waiting for me as if it were saying ‘welcome home’.
And home is exactly how this beautiful city felt. I admired the public transit, which was just as easy to navigate as New York’s and chatted up the friendly people I met all along the way. To the two friends at Kuma’s who invited me to the Mumford and Son’s concert that evening I truly wish I could have gone. It sounded fantastic and they are a band I would honestly enjoy seeing live.
Alas, the architecture tour of downtown was calling my name – and I do mean literally since I’d already purchased a ticket online – and I can’t get over how amazing these beautifully tall buildings that reach toward the heavens truly are. Thank you for sharing just a few moments of your history with me Chicago, I am honored to get to know you a little better.
