This is the season I’ve personally been waiting for. The Fall.
The time when colors get a little rustic a little deeper and a whole lot bolder. When warm blankets and bedding filled with intricate designs and ruffles come about and when jackets and scarves line every wall of every clothing store you walk into.
I need a nice new jacket this season. My current blue number is a little worse for wear. It’s seen me through three Fall’s now, one of which I seriously tested it boundaries with my swelling baby bump. I’ve worn holes into the sleeves where my hands wrest on my keyboard, I’ve stretched the arms out so they fit over my elbows just so, and I’ve washed it just enough times to get that awesome faded look to it.
I feel like we just started going steady, like we finally know each other well enough to not even have to ask why I need a king size reeses peanut butter cup at three o’clock in the afternoon, or why I need to take a brisk walk around eleven in the morning, or why oh why I insist on wearing a long sleeve number since I always end up shoving the sleeves up to a happy 3/4 length.
Yes, the time has come my good well worn friend to find a new jacket to break in. But don’t worry, I’ll keep you in my closet for those special midnight dairy queen runs.
