The Chicago Wedding

Every so often, if you take the time to step out of your shell and really get to know someone you discover just how cool they are and how much you love having them in your life. And my girl Chella is just that person for me. Goth rocker meets Mormon mama fitness blogger and quickly become fast friends. Her smile, love for life and nerdy introvert side really speak to me. And whether she wants to admit it or not, we are totally gal pals. lol.

So naturally when her awesomely gothic wedding invitation came in the mail I just had to click YES on the RSVP and book a flight to her home city of Chicago to finally meet her main squeeze and enjoy her delightfully fantastic city. The moment she told me she was wearing black I very excitedly exclaimed ‘I’m wearing white!’. So naturally, that’s what happened…

Walking into the fantastically tiny venue I could have paralyzed in fear over the fact that I literally only knew two people in the room and they were the bride and her maid-of-honor who were both very busy entertaining the guests. But where’s the fun in that? Instead I took my introverted self over to the counter and quickly introduced myself to my new friend Chris and yes, we did become fast friends. As luck would have it he really only knew about four people there as well, and so we took our quiet selves all around the room and introduced ourselves to as many people as possible. As any good introvert should do on occasion – it’s just good for the soul to give your energy to others on occasion.

We chatted, I cried during the ceremony, and we all ate tasty red velvet brownies and stayed up entirely too late. It really couldn’t be helped. After all the wedding didn’t even start until eleven o’clock at night, under the Chicago sky, just like the bride had always dreamed of.

The Uber driver that night was especially chatty or maybe it was just my new found extroverted side, either way we too became fast friends as he told me all about his daughter and her college studies. He quietly bobbed the car from here to there and there to hear and back to the Lakeview area I went with my tired eyes and my full heart. Chicago, you did not disappoint and I thank you for that.

Until next time.justlovekelly
