Life around here lately: Family reunion 2018

Prepare for some serious photo overload.

The Westover family reunion is the highlight of our summer every two years, and this year was pretty epic. Camping (more like glamping) with 5 kiddos for 5 days. This year the older kids were all in cousin tents. Avery and about 6 of her girl cousins shared one while Quinton, Rhys and one of their boy cousins shared another.

Leaving just Eric, the newbie twins and myself in the giant tent. Ahhhhh… room to breathe. Kinda. We still kept all of the bags in our space to help regulate the crazy, which helped a ton.

In short, we road-tripped like bosses; with only minor melt downs just before stopping for the day. There was Harry Potter fun, 4th of July shenanigans, BBQ-ing, rocket building, dance partying, waaaaay too much Dr. Pepper-ing (cuz that’s a verb!), loads of baby passing, old friend seeing, family time galore, giant puzzle building and freedom. The thing I looooove the most about this trip is the freedom. The Westover ranch is a giant plot of land with tons of space for the kids to just roam around and get into trouble, just like kids should. I’m pretty sure I saw my kids for a collective 30 minutes the entire time we were there. Catching a glimpse of them at meal times to make sure they were in fact eating and then off they went again.

I remember spending summers on my Grandma’s farm and just roaming free. I’m sure I have completely romanticized the memories and the freedom, but the feelings remain and I’m grateful to be able to give a little bit of those feelings to our kids.

Until next time, Rexburg.
Stay real, and quit growing up so much! (Except for the cafe rio. Please, please keep the cafe rio!)

A few of my style faves from the trip:

American Flag trucker hat / Button up top / Slouchy pants
