alcatraz, inmates and sick babies

Like I said before, the work crew hit up Alcatraz on Friday along with Pier 23 for some Crab sandwiches and Fish & Chips. The food was meh, but The Rock tour was super awesome. You learn something new every time, plus this time there was a real live former inmate doing book signings and telling people all about his experiences. It was a bit surreal. What do you say to a former Alcatraz inmate besides something horribly embarrassing like ‘how was your stay?‘. I chose not to say anything, but did manage to still be that girl as I snapped a photo and ran for my ferry boat.

In the flesh. Robert Luke

Robert Luke, in the flesh. When I walked by he was chatting up the son of a former guard and telling him how Alcatraz was the place you went when you broke the prison rules.

Former inmatePrison rules. #latergram

We had game night on Saturday with the old gang – there were 8 of us in total. We ordered Chinese delivery which in and of itself was a freaking miracle. Who knew you could order in Chinese in the suburbs???? We all pretty excited, and it turned out to be pretty tasty too which was double plus good.
The moment after they were finally playing together. #masterquinn
Quinn and Elie actually had a moment of playtime – which I of course missed capturing because I was just too stunned to get my butt into gear in time. This was taken the moment just after. One moment too late, but close enough to call it good. Quinn had a blast running around all night and was happy as a clam all the way up to the part where he barfed all over the floor. Poor kiddo.
We got him all cleaned up and were heading home when he exploded again in the car. Good thing my sister’s house was on the way, and we were able to save the car seat and get him all rinsed off. It was the saddest thing to see how exhausted he was after the whole ordeal. He nearly fell asleep in the car, while covered in throw up.

Question for you all – Have you experienced a car throw up? What do you do, and how do you react?
I apparently yell at Eric to pull over regardless of where we are, then clean up Quinn as best I can – scoop out his mouth, wipe off his face and anything else I can with only a handful of paper towels – and  then hop back into the passenger seat and tell Eric to drive like a bat out of you-know-where while I try to calm down the Q dude with soothing words and such.

We played hooky on Sunday and spent the day relaxing at home and keeping a watchful eye on Q. He ate really well all day and hasn’t had any repeats. (I say, as I knock on wood while crossing myself which is very odd considering I’m not catholic – but hey, just in case, right?)
Have a super Monday!
Some stuff I chatted about last week:
I wrote a love note to the Q dude. Made some tasty cupcakes,
