A Fresh Start: 3 Secrets to a good life

Almost 16 months ago two little firecrackers came barreling into our lives. They brought crazy amounts of joy, pain, sleeplessness, laughter, smiles, pleasant conversations, tantrums, sibling squabbles…. you get the point…the list goes on.

Four (4) months ago I reached a point in my Post-Partum recovery where I FINALLY felt like I could push my body. I could walk a mile+ without being doubled over in pain. The diastasis-recti (separated abs) were coming back together nicely and I could almost do ‘normal’ workouts.

Fast forward to today, and bam. Here I am to tell you, that through all of the crazy healing and slowing down, the napping, the taking it easy and just allowing time and God to work, that it is paying off in BIG ways. It finally feels like a fresh start. Like, legit.

Don’t doubt the process. The process takes time and effort and is worth every. freaking. moment. And here are 4 secrets I’ve learned along the way…

1. Weight loss is NOT the main priority

It doesn’t matter if you’re postpartum, overweight, underweight, or just not happy in your skin. Weight loss is NOT the main priority. The goal instead should be to empower yourself to take control and live your very best life. Whatever that might be, and however that might FEEL to you. And for heavens sake, allow the time and space to do it correctly!

Make the change, say the prayers, eat the food, don’t eat the other food, read the books, listen to the podcasts, watch the videos… and just feel better when you’re done!

2. The side effects of your efforts are the key

Once you master step 1, step 2 simply falls into place. No joke.
Size up, size down, feel better in your skin, like your reflection more, want clearer skin…whatever thing you’re looking for becomes a side effect of where you place your power. Because you’ve taken your power back from and aren’t obsessing over a thing, and instead, are using your energies to push you toward your priority, you can’t help but find it along the way. It’s just what will naturally snowball and happen once you set the momentum in motion and keep at it.

3. So, keep at it

Mo, momentum, is your BFF along this journey. So no matter how badly you don’t want to make yourself the priority this is your not-so-subtle reminder to do it anyway! Remember, wherever you point your power to/at is where your momentum is going to take you. So stop worrying, stop stressing, stop overthinking it. Instead, build your authentic self-confidence and find joy in your journey.
