8 skincare tips I learned at the Rodan and Fields convention

  1. This one makes me face-palm myself because I have encouraged this exact action for soooooo long. Aferall, we ALL drink more water when we drink it through a straw. Well, now’s the time to stop. Why? Because over time it will increase those fine lines around your mouth. Doh!
  2. The multi-steps of a regimen–wash and toner–help to clean out the pores and make them appear firmer and more healthy. (because they are!) So don’t skip the toner.
  3. Everyone needs an eye cream! The first signs of aging are almost always around the eyes. So treat that skin nicely and get a good eye cream.
  4. Sun damage is the equivalent of your skin turning from a clean and clear body of water, able to reflect light and allow light in, to a muddy lake. The light isn’t able to bounce off and instead it’s getting absorbed and gives the appearance of being dull. The good news? There is a way to reverse the dull and sun damage!
  5. Exfoliation should happen 1-3 times a week! It helps to sluff off the dead skin cells so your cleanser and toner are able to get down to the true surface of your skin and get a really good clean!
    1. Warning – your skin is delicate! You should take good care of it and be gentle with it. Which is why it’s so important to choose and use products with the right balance of ingredients and the right science behind them.
  6. SPF is a non-negtioable! We’re all again, so let’s do it gracefully and protect our skin from what we can—the sun! We can’t control our genetic make-up but we can control our sun exposure.
  7. Sensitive skin can be controlled. Sensitivities occur when a breakdown happens in your skin barrier. Rebuilding that barrier and working to manage the triggers that cause sensitivities (shaving, hotel towels, soaps & detergents, foods, sunlight…) help to stop the domino effect. The right tool with the right ingredients is KEY here.
  8. Try new products as a ‘patch test’ along the jaw line to make sure they’re the right fit for you. Especially this one.
